“Never Seen” is in fact now available in the publisher’s catalog alongside important names and composers of world renown and can be listened to through the various channels available on the network, from Valtellina to the United States. This was the journey that made the music of the young Talamone composer David Riva. The song “I’ve Never Seen Before” was released for the mixed chorus recently by a major California publishing house.
The work, which is based on the text of the famous poet Emily Dickinson, was composed during the spring of 2020 for a group of very young singers from Alta Valtellina, disciples of Maestro Riva.
The music features an effective melodic impulse and is expertly constructed from a simple but subtle counterpoint between the four voices soprano, alto, tenor and bass.
“Never Seen” after being recorded almost for the first time by Maestro Diego Cerruti and then performed live by Antonio LaMotta Choir directed by Maestro David Mainetti, sparked great interest in Maestro Joe Michael Schaib, Professor of Choral and Sacred Music at the University of Southern California (University of Southern California (University of Southern California). Southern California (USC). Maestro Chibi then chose the composition to be published in a series dedicated to him where choral music by contemporary composers can be found.

Editor’s review:

Davide Riva’s beautiful acapella setting of four-part mixed vocals is set on the beloved poem by Emily Dickinson. The composition is divided into two recurring parts. In the first section, the choral texture is rhythmically harmonious and in the second section, the sounds are assigned a simple corresponding point. The song “I never saw” closes on the dominant chord creating a sense of suspension that reinforces Dickinson’s notion of faith.

Nice setting for a cappella choir for four mixed voices composed by David Riva based on the beloved poem by Emily Dickinson. The composition is divided into two recurring parts. The choral texture in the first part is the same rhythm and in the second part the sounds are contradictory. “Never Seen” closes on the dominant chord creating a sense of suspension that evokes the concept of faith expressed by Dickinson.
