The excellent documentary series looks better than ever and now marks George Harrison's final performance as The Beatles.
The Beatles anthology documentary series returns to TV this week with additional, meticulously crafted episodes on Disney+.First released 30 years ago in November 1995, the series is (as it always has been) an absolute delight and an intimate inside story of the still dazzling rise, triumphant reign, and bittersweet death of the greatest and most influential musical force of our time.
As you should know if you've already seen it (and what Beatles fan of a certain era hasn't?), the anthology is packed with warm, insightful interviews and brilliantly restored, creatively edited footage that brings to life the personalities and music that changed the world.
Rewatching it brought a big smile to my face, and now it comes with a poignant footnote, another lovingly and creatively put together 50-minute episode (fittingly for the Beatles, "Number 9") starring Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, who reunited in 1995, lamented colleague John Lennon.
