The LA Kings snapped a four-game losing streak in St. Louis as they began a five-game road trip Tuesday night with a 2-1 overtime win over the Blues at the Enterprise Center.
Here comes the first period and the first manager, and the first managers have not presented themselves as juicy teams. In 20 minutes, Philip almost led the cursed zone, Philip Danaul had the best chance to open, but left the bacteria on the back of the children tied.
However, in the first two minutes of the second half, the Kings took advantage of a turnover by the Blues to open the scoring.Forward Adrian Kempe stole the puck in the neutral zone and quickly fed Alex Laferriere moving the other way.Laferriere moved inside Binnington, took a backhand and buried his first goal of the season under the crossbar to make it 1-0.
After a highly questionable penalty call on Kings goalie Darcy Comper, the Blues tied the game with a power play goal.Late in the series, forward Robert Thomas fed point guard Justin Polk through the slot.Powell hit a puck into the net between circles and beat Kings goaltender Darcy Comper on the glove side for his first goal of the season, tying the game at one early in the third period.
After the game was tied, the Kings found a way to get the extra point in overtime.
After striker Andrey Kuzmenko converted a penalty with a quick stick in the slot, Kempe scored the winning goal.On the power play, Kempe and Fiala went 4-on-3, moving the puck upfield and swapping places as they moved the puck.Kempe made his way to the top of the right circle and fired Kuzmenko's pass into the net to secure two points.
After today's game, hear from Kuemper, Laferriere and head coach Jim Hiller.
For tonight's work to be perfect as it is this time
I think it's definitely the most complete game ever.Obviously, the freshman was a bit out of our reach, but I thought we made the right decision and took him in OT.I think it's a more complete game from us.
What he saw in his purpose
I slipped in the corner so I just tried to backcheck and then the water made an incredible play in the neutral zone and was able to generate that income. He would break out but he let me have it like he gave it to me and told me I had time.I kind of logged in, made a move, and luckily I did.
Today his most comfortable game is in the middle
Very comfortable, for sure.I think it's a game where I feel more natural than I'm used to.It's a tough situation.People get paid a lot to play that position, and I'm not in that position, but I try to use that in my game. It's a tough transition, I mean, playing with guys like Juice and Guzzi, they make it a lot easier to play that position. As long as we're in the offensive zone, you don't have to play center, so it's a lot easier.
Tonight's game is about being a building block for a five-game road trip
Yes, it is too much.It is going to be difficult to win playing games on the way on this lion, more in groups like this.I hope that shows a lot of a lot for our company can pull this.Yes, it's the beginning of the way we want to end with a winners.Yes, it's a refund.
If tonight was the best 60 minutes of Kings hockey you've seen this season
I would say so, yes.I mean, there were some parts we didn't like, a few turnovers in the second period, a little bit, they didn't like giving up a [power-play] goal, for sure, but I didn't think we gave them that much in terms of quality. We didn't do much either, but we worked, we were a little short on the goal line and we got some shots from the top, which we didn't have.We wish it was easier than that, but I don't know, that's the way we fight fights, right from the start, she's usually a grind.
Moved from 4 to 3 a week if not done in Minnesota
That's it, isn't it?It doesn't work, then you have time left on the clock, you have a potential shot, so you can control your destiny at that point.Just a nice goal.Great pass, great finish by Juice. He plays forward, we don't often see him on that left flank but you can see why he's scored loads of goals from there.
Regarding Darcy Kuemper's first game performance tonight.
I thought this was a big part, a great part, a great story in the game is that Darcy is coming back.I seriously looked like myself.
Corey Perry on his LA Kings debut
I thought it added a lot.You saw him play, I thought he was dangerous, as dangerous as anyone up front.Non-material things, it's nice to have him around, he's a winner and then it gets on his nerves.I didn't think I would play him that much, I think he played almost 15 minutes tonight, late in the third and he was there. It was a pretty surprising performance for the first time for me.
To get a temporary victory as a building block in the right direction
Well, I think so.And I mean, I'm glad we came out on the right side, but I think there's a few more games, which is the fourth-overall game now, that I think we have a chance to come out on the right side of, but that's just the start of the ride and that's it.Just as we felt, we got a couple of hours to get to the plane and we had to stop because we dug ourselves a bit of a hole.We really need to focus on making this a road trip, not a good fight. There our attention turns very quickly.
