Xcode 26.3 unlocks the power of agent coding

Developers can use coding tools, including Anthropic's Claude Agent and OpenAI's Codex, right in Xcode to solve complex tasks independently, helping them develop apps faster.

Xcode 26.3 introduces support for agent-based coding, a new way in Xcode for developers to build apps using coding agents such as Anthropic's Claude Agent and OpenAI's Codex. With agent-based coding, Xcode can work with greater autonomy toward a developer's goals—from sharing tasks to making decisions based on project architecture and using built-in tools.

Expanding on the smart features introduced in Xcode 26, which created a new coding assistant for writing and editing in Swift, this release gives coding agents access to even more Xcode capabilities.Agents like Claude Agent and Codex can now work together throughout the development lifecycle, allowing developers to streamline workflows, iterate faster, and bring ideas to life.Agents can search for documentation, explore file structures, update project settings, and visually check their work by capturing Xcode previews and iterating on builds and fixes.

"At , our goal is to create tools that bring leading technology directly into the hands of developers so they can build great apps," said Susan Prescott, vice president of Global Developer Relations."Agent coding increases productivity and innovation, simplifying the development workflow so developers can focus on innovation."

With seamless access to Claude Agent and Codex, developers can integrate the advanced arguments of these models directly into the application development workflow.1 This connector combines the power of these agents with the native capabilities of Xcode to ensure the best results when developing platforms and gives developers the flexibility to work with the model that suits their project.

In addition to built-in integrations, Xcode 26.3 makes its capabilities available through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard that gives developers the flexibility to use any compatible agent or tool with Xcode.

Xcode 26.3 is available as a release candidate to all Developer Program members starting today, with a release coming to the App Store.
