Vision Pro M5 review Time for Apple to make some tough decisions - Ars Technica

A state of union with those who actually use things

With the latest release of VisionOS 26 and the newly updated Vision Pro hardware, now is a great time to check out Apple's Vision Pro headset, a device that surprised and disappointed me in early 2024.

I still like the look, but I'd say it's hanging by a thread.Easy content, developer support, and apple to improve both, apple is not enough, and I may be after too late.

When I bought the Vision Pro, I used it a lot: watching movies on airplanes and in hotel rooms, walking around my house placing app windows, and trying out weird new ways.I tried all the neat games and educational apps and watched all the immersive videos I could get my hands on.I tried my hand at developing my own applications.

As the subject progressed, I used it less and less. The news turned off and cool, it stayed, and the distraction was cool.Apple sent me a new model a few weeks ago, and I've actually put it in several times.I mostly stayed at home, but I still traveled as an entertainment device for hotel rooms.

It's not an unusual story. You saw the idea on the owners subreddit, which should be a home for dedicated fans.Even there, people say, "This is really cool, but I have to hit the road."

Maybe it would have been easier to fit into my daily habits if the developer and content creator support had been stronger, a classic chicken and egg problem.
