Sources told the Herald last month that the Patriots felt Eagle Brown's asking price was unreasonable.
PHOENIX - Phone lines are silent.
Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Elliot Wolff said Monday that the team recently traded to the Eagles for star wide receiver A.J. The trade talks did not involve Brown, the team's hot topic in the offseason.
"A.J. Brown is a member of the Eagles, as (Eagles GM) Howie (Roseman) said yesterday," Wolf said on Up & Adams."We haven't talked about anything about this in a long time."
League sources told the Herald last month at the NFL combine that the Patriots felt Brown's price was unrealistic. The 28-year-old receiver was reportedly unhappy with his position in Philadelphia despite winning the Super Bowl last year.Brown previously played for Patriots coach Mike Vrabel at Tennessee, where he was drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.Sold during design
Due to concerns about the Eagles' salary cap, any deal with Brown this summer is expected to be done after June 1st.If he is traded sooner, Philadelphia would be out $43.5 million. After June 1, that drops to $16.35 million.According to Sports Illustrated, Brown told the Eagles that he would rather be traded to New England, Kansas City, Buffalo or the Chargers. The Rams are also reportedly interested in Brown.
On Monday, Roseman deflected when asked about possible deals with Brown.
"I understand there's interest in A.J. Brown's story. Unfortunately, I don't have a rock bottom," Roseman explained."But my answer to any question about A.J. Brown is A.J. Brown was a member of the Eagles. From my perspective, anything you ask me about A.J. Brown, I'll come right back to that answer. But I understand the interest. I put it on TV and I saw that there was interest, but my answer is A.J. Brown was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles."
Last month, Vrabel hinted that trade talks could intensify around the draft, which now takes place in three and a half weeks.
"I think we're going to look at everything we can look at to add to our list," he said of the scouting conference. There's a lot that goes into a trade."There's a lot of back and forth." "Not just this week, but as we get closer to preparation and planning, those are things that take a long time."
