Andrea Locatelli wins the podium in race 2 of the WorldSBK in Australia. Thanks to a great race, the Italian Yamaha rider finished third, behind the two Ducatis of Bautista and the now unbeatable Rinaldi of the day.

A race to be framed

Race -2 to frame Andrea Locatelli at WorldSBK in Australia, who managed to conquer the slightest step on the podium behind Ducatis. Thanks to this placement, the Italian Yamaha could be content with finishing second in the world standings, also bearing in mind that the red Borgo Panigale was not available to anyone today.

Locatelli is very satisfied with the work done over the weekend and with third place, on a track where overtaking is difficult. Andrea made no mistakes today in Race 2, resulting in a faster result than his teammate on the difficulty of the day, Jonathan Rea. The Yamaha rider was in fact making up for an excellent start, immediately placing himself behind Bautista and Rinaldi and ahead of the more famous Razgatlioglu. Despite our standard-bearer’s attempts, Bautista’s Ducati immediately takes a huge lead from Rinaldi, and eventually the gap to his Yamaha is eight seconds. But it was difficult to do more today for Locatelli, who in any case showed a speed markedly below the holders of Borgo Panegal.

Locatelli data

At the end of the WorldSBK -2 race in Australia, Andrea Locatelli looked very satisfied with the work his team had done, announcing: “I’m very satisfied with the weekend in Australia. I didn’t make any mistakes, although Superpole isn’t sparkling, I’ve had some good races and it’s not easy to overtake on this track. My goal was to leave Phillip Island with a podium finish and I succeeded. The team worked really hard. Very well in the tests at Jerez and Portimao and we’ve made some good steps forward, and I’m proud of our work.”.

Regarding his teammate’s difficulties, Locatelli does not unbutton: “I don’t know why the Toprak suffered so much today, for my part I found a good setup and it went well. The layout of this track, which requires a smooth ride, probably suited my driving style very well. Last year the weather wasn’t favorable and I couldn’t express my potential, but I was I’m still close to the leaders. This year we had some data to start from, so experience always counts a lot and this year I have more.”
