The video of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pausing his speech over hearing Azaan in a nearby mosque has gone viral. This incident happened when Indian PM was addressing at Kharagpur election rally with full zeal, meanwhile the muezzin from Golbari Masjid called Azaan, he quickly turned off the mics and kept silence for several minutes.
After Azaan’s call, the Indian PM said: “I do not want to interrupt anyone’s prayers. So I decided to take a brief rest.”
“This is our parampara (heritage). We should pay respect to all religions and respect their rituals and customs… We should be respectful so that the unity of India is maintained,” Modi further added according to the Indian Express.
The video shows that the attendees of the rally were also quite impressed over this move by the Indian PM and chanted slogans in his favor.
