Pakistan’s history as member of United Nations is as old as Pakistan’s existence as an independent state. Pakistan joined the UN on September 30,1947 after getting its independence on August 14, 1947.
24th October is celebrated as United nations Day, as this is the anniversary of the Organization promoting cooperation at international level. All along, Pakistan’s role in UN can never be denied and its being lauded at different International levels.
ISPR in its recent Press Release told about Pakistan Army’s role in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions. Till the date Pakistan has contributed more than 1,60,000 troops to date in 41 Missions spread over 23 countries in almost all continents of the World. Pakistan’s role in promoting peace has always been highlighted by the World supreme leaders.
Pakistan Army is recognized as the one of the best army in the world have been bravely playing their part in UN’s peacekeeping Missions.
Currently, Pakistan’s 7500 all ranks troops are deployed in 6 different UN Missions.
144 Pakistani troops including 23 officers embraced martyrdom and same number of troops were wounded in effort to uphold the mission of peace and tranquility.
