Former British Prime Minister (1997-2007) Tony Blair has apologized over Iraq War (2003), which resulted as emergence of Islamic State IS in the country.
Blair confessed that there were “elements of truth” that the Iraq War was “the principal cause” of the rise of the Islamic State IS.
As the Chilcot report or Iraq Inquiry is soon to be publicized, it seems that Britain’s ex-leader is making ground for the public report, which started in 2009. The Chilcot report will unveil the nation’s strategy over Iraq war, which caused a lot destruction in Iraq.
The British-based group Iraq Body Count claimed that around 112,000 violent civilians were died due to the Iraq War in 2003 to mid-2011 but an academic study in 2013 claimed that around Half-million people war died during the war.
The US-led coalition in which British were ally was strongly criticized for the devastation in Iraq. But around 12 years have passed and now than British Prime Minister, Tony Blair feels sorry for the war which indulged Iraq in “Hell”as now Islamic State is dominant over there.
“I can say that I apologize for the fact that the intelligence we received was wrong because, even though he had used chemical weapons extensively against his own people, against others, the program in the form that we thought it was did not exist in the way that we thought”, said Blair, while giving interview to the CNN.
Although, he doesn’t have any regret over ousting the dictator Saddam Hussein.
