RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman vows to punish the hands behind the mosque attack in the kingdom’s east on 23 May. Earlier, IS claimed the responsibility of suicide bombing at Shiite mosque, which left 21 dead. Saudi King Salman expressed his grief over the attack and vows to punish the attackers behind the suicide bombing.
“Anyone taking part, planning, supporting or sympathising with this heinous crime will be held accountable, and will be subject to legal accountability. He will receive the deserved punishment,” the king said, according to the sources.
This attack is said to be one of the worst attack in Saudi history and is also claimed as the first attack by IS in a Sunni dominating kingdom.
The king further said that, “Our efforts will never stop… fighting the deviant thought, confronting the terrorists and wiping out their hotbeds.” the king said in a message to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who is also the interior minister.
The king further said that ” We were… pained by the intensity of this terrorist crime that contradicts the values of Islam and humanity”, the ‘heart broken’ king vows to get rid of such elements as early as possible.
