He is scheduled to address the UNGA on September 30 along with the meeting of General Assemby for adoption of the post-2015 development policy. Pakistan, the US, and the UN Secretary General would co-host a peace summit as well.
Beside the UNGA, the premier will also attend a global leaders’ meeting on gender quality and women empowerment arranged by China and UN women.
Meanwhile, no reports about PM Nawaz’s meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi has been surfaced as yet and no such proposal has been received from the other side either.
Earlier, it was also proposed that PM Nawaz would raise the issue of Indian involvement in the terrorist activities in Pakistan in the UNGA.
PM Nawaz will also attend receptions to be hosted separately by the UN secretary general and the US president to regard the heads of states.
Prior to premier’s visit to New York, the government was in a fix over Washington’s appeal to join its military alliance against Islamic State, which has set up a self-proclaimed Caliphate over large land in Iraq and Syria.
