Pakistan asks to leave Bangladesh diplomat over ‘anti-state activities’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has asked Bangladesh to send back diplomat from Islamabad, in apparent retaliation after the expulsion of a Pakistani envoy who allegedly funded a suspected extremist on trail for espionage, Dawn.com reported.

Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said Pakistan had on Tuesday asked Dhaka to recall senior diplomat Moushumi Raham back home from its high commission in Islamabad within 48 hours.

“The political counselor and head of chancery in Islamabad has been given till Thursday to leave the country,” Haque told AFP.

According to sources of Dawn.com, decision to expel Moushumi Raham was taken on the account of ‘anti-state activities in Pakistan’.

Earlier, on December, Pakistani diplomat  Farina Arshad was called back at Bangladesh’s request, after she was charged by the Dhaka to finance a suspected extremist accused of spying for Pakistan.
