An Indian diamond jewelry export firm rejected the application of an MBA named Zeshan Ali Khan from Mumbai just because he is a Muslim.
Within 15 minutes after he applied for a marketing job in the firm, he was rejected being said that they regret to inform that they hire only Non-Muslim candidates.
Two of his classmates Omkar Bansode and Mukund Mani also applied for the same job and they were called for interview the very next day. But both of them rejected the job offer for standing by the victim of religious discrimination. The screenshot of the email which Zeshan shared on Twitter and Facebook enraged the people in the country.
After his post about this went viral, Zeshan Ali Khan told the media that he was completely shocked that the firm of his own secular country would turn out to be discriminating him because of his religion. Activist from across the country suggested him filing the case against the firm for religious discrimination.
When his post was viral and the news broke way, the firm sent another email reading that their HR trainee who denied job to Zeeshan Ali Khan had been suspended for doing this non-professional and discriminating stuff. In response to all of this, the chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Mr. Naseem Ahmed said, “We received the complaint today. If there is any truth in it, it is very unfortunate. We will study the company’s response and decide on action “. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, union Minister of State for Minority Affairs reaffirmed that the jobs should be given on the basis of merit – not on the basis of religions.
