Day against Illicit Trafficking and Drug Abuse is a world wide observed today.
International Day against Drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking falls on June 26, each year to raise awareness of the major issue that illicit represent to society. This international day is supported by different communities and various organizations around the globe.
UNODC said, almost 200 million people are using drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, opiates, hallucinogens, and sedative hypnotics all over the world. The UN General Assembly took a decision in December 1987, to observe June 26 as the Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking International day.
It is an occasion with conscious fervor for raising mass among the masses regarding a lot of drug addiction and illicit trafficking.
The Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) registered 669 cases during this year and arrested 885 persons including 9 foreigners and recovered 18.
This year the purpose of the day is to make a drug free society.
