Tennis star sania Mirza has come forward and joined a welfare campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) which is set up for the promotion to adopt homeless cats and dogs instead of buying them.
Sania , 28, who became the first Indian woman tennis player to win the title of world number one doubles ranking along with Martina Hingis, stars in the advertisement with her rescued cat Posh.
Mirza said in a statement issued by the animal rights organization that many animals especially dogs are hit by vehicles on the roads on daily basis and they just lie there for many days. That’s why the need is to rescue these dogs or to take them from a shelter instead of buying.
“Always be kind, not just to people but also to animals”, she added.
PETA and Mirza want people to know that they can bring joy into the life of a homeless dog or cat as well as into their own lives by adopting a lovable shelter animal if they have the time, space and resources to provide one with a lifetime of affection and care.
