In a backdrop of recent hiccup related to ties between the two neighbours, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani came with a crucial development, announcing to visit Pakistan next week.
Afghan President will joint Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to jointly inaugurate the regional conference on Afghanistan on December 9 in Islamabad, as a foreign office statement confirmed.
“I look forward to the visit of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to Islamabad, for jointly inaugurating the Heart of Asia meeting on December 9,” the Foreign Office quoted the prime minister’s statement.
PM Nawaz has also reportedly said he is hopeful to have discussions on the sidelines of the meeting on ‘how the two neighbours, China and the USA could carry out along with one another to pick up the thread of the reconciliation procedure from where it was abandoned in the middle of the current year.
Earlier, PM Nawaz had a meeting with Ghani on Monday on the sidelines of the world climate summit being held in Paris. Both the leaders had come to a consensus to join hands in reviving stalled peace talks with Taliban insurgents.
