Bollywood singer from Pakistan, Adnan Sami is likely to granted Indian citizenship in few days. Singer who was granted permission in August 2015 to stay indefinitely in India may get their permanent citizenship of India.

The popular Bollywood singer who served for India almost a decade and a half will be given Indian citizenship because of his services and talents to India. In August 2015, Indian government allowed him to stay in India indefinitely because of non-renewal of his Pakistani report. The sources of Time of India and The Hindu have claimed that in upcoming days he will be awarded with citizenship of India.

The proposal for granting citizenship to the singer to the Ministry of Home Affairs is given by Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi. According to an official spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs, “Mr. Sami, who has been staying in India since 2001, will be given Indian citizenship under Section 6 of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955. The provision allows citizenship, through a certificate of “naturalization,” to applicants with distinguished contribution in the field of science, philosophy, art, literature, world peace or human progress. In May this year, the MHA granted him the right to stay in India indefinitely on humanitarian grounds after his Pakistani passport expired the same month. Mr. Sami has made several representations to Home Minister Rajnath Singh about his citizenship.

“The Shiv Sena may have forced ghazal singer Ghulam Ali to cancel his concert in Mumbai, but the government is set to give Indian citizenship to Sami,” the report said.

Mr. Sami has sung in various Hindi films, the latest being a qawali for the Salman Khan-starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
