KABUL: In two different drone strikes in an eastern province bordering Pakistan at least 20 suspected militants have killed, an Afghan official said.
Suspected militants affiliated with Daesh or the self-styled Islamic State group were killed in separate drone attacks in Afghanistan.
Spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said that the strikes occurred late on Wednesday night. According to him, both the strikes took place in Haska Mina district near the bordering area to Pakistan.
Abdulzai also said that the district is linked with Pachi Agam district where militants do exist and are active.
On the other hand, in a statement from the US military in Afghanistan confirmed a ‘Kinetic strike’ in Nangarhar against what it calls were ‘individuals threatening the force’.
Abdulzai said that no casualties took place as far as the civilians are concerned.
Meanwhile, Nangarhar has witnessed massive conflicts during recent months between militants purported to be from the Taliban and IS, struggling over the control of trade routes.
