We also have a chance to see the best selling games. The data refer to the time period between December 28, 2020 and December 19, 2021.

Nintendo Switch (Base model, Lite and OLED combined) 5.3 million units were sold in 2021 in Japan. Moreover, if we add the sales of PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X | S and Nintendo 3DS, we’re going to 1.1 million units. This means that Nintendo’s latest family of consoles has managed to sell nearly 5 times all other consoles combined.

  • PS4 – 103786 units
  • Xbox Series X | S – 95,598 units
  • Nintendo 3DS – 28,224 units

As you can see, PS4 managed to sell more than Xbox Series X | S, while the PS5 sold ten times that of its direct competitor. No data has been shared regarding the Xbox One family of consoles, but we think those are very low numbers. The Nintendo Switch achieved similar results for 2020, selling 5.1 million units.
