Wout van Aert is still in Sardinia with his wife and son George, using a friend’s wedding for a short family vacation. The Flemish hero arrived in Italy on Sunday evening, and on Monday already began to explore the routes north of the island, from the sea near Cala Volpe heading inland to Arzachena.

Van Aert himself has posted some photos of La Maddalena delighting his family, but also photos of his training, while escorted by a wasp on the arid heights overlooking one of the most beautiful and famous seas in the world.

Van Aert chose to spend a week in Italy with his family, and in a few days, on a plane to Paris, he will continue his journey to Canada where he will participate in the last two races before traveling to Australia. He will be the captain of the Belgian national team in the World Cup and Wollongong, and it is no secret that his national team is looking for the most valuable minerals.

After losing the gold medal at the World Championships in Imola and Leuven, Van Aart will do his best to win the rainbow jersey. By bike, Van Aert explores Sardinia with a training of over 200 kilometers passing through Porto Cervo and Olbia, passing towards Tempio Pausania and all the way to Costa Paradiso, on the sea overlooking Spain. According to some friends of the Jumbo-Visma champion, Sardinia would be a place Van Aert could consider for future training camps for both mild temperatures on roads with little traffic and long climbs, allowing runners to drive to finish a full workout.
