The elegant venue is located near Helmsey, North Yorkshire, in a historic building dating back to the 14th century, whose thatched roof appears to have caught fire, destroying everything, fortunately without causing any injuries or injuries.
Police are now investigating an arson attack, with the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service saying they believe the blaze was started deliberately. North Yorkshire Police said “a number of groups were in the area at the time of the fire” and urged those with information to contact authorities, even anonymously.
Chef Andrew Byrne said the restaurant was destroyed, and it would take at least a year to get it back on its feet. He commented with local authorities, “Seeing your career going up in smoke isn’t the best feeling in the world, but we are strong and we will recover.” The Star Inn fire was so big that it took 45 firefighters to completely tame it.
“The local community has been fantastic and I can never thank the staff enough for what they did when it turned out that everything was on fire,” the chef said.
