The United States nominates Ajay Banga to lead the World Bank – La Voce di New York

Joe Biden announced that the United States would run to lead the World Bank on Ajay Banga, an entrepreneur with extensive experience leading organizations in developing countries and building public-private partnerships to address financial inclusion and climate change.

Biden added that Ajay Banga “has a proven track record of managing people and systems and working with global leaders around the world to deliver results.” The US candidate also has “critical experience mobilizing public and private resources to meet the most pressing challenges of our time, including climate change,” said the statement posted on the White House website.

Raised in India, Ajay is currently Vice President of General Atlantic and has been an advisor to the Climate Fund. Previously, he was President and CEO of Mastercard and led the company through strategic, technological and cultural transformation.

He is also a member of the Tripartite Commission, a founding official of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, a former member of the US-China National Relations Committee, and was a member of President Obama’s Committee for Improving Cybersecurity.
