The cart for smart work. Here’s how it’s done

In the iconic Peugeot Boxer, French professional Jmca created the Nomadic Office minivan perfectly suited for work and leisure.

Thousands of articles (and a sea of ​​books) have been written about how the pandemic has changed the concept of the workplace, favoring smart work until it becomes a stable alternative even after the nightmare is over. Hence, the use of the cart is not only for leisure but for remote work, preparing the car to make it run at its best. Transalpine operator Jmca has gone even further, creating a true mobile office based on the Peugeot Boxer: they called it “Bureaux Nomades” – or “Nomadic Office” in English – a mobile workspace for two that allows users to work in complete independence wherever they are, on the At least for a week. From the truck, a minivan became equipped: large, comfortable and above all also comfortable because the interior is distinguished by birch plywood panels.


The transformation process began with a 3D scan of the entire cabin using a special laser in order to obtain the exact dimensions of the Boxer. Subsequently, the interiors were modified by installing a retractable system – consisting of 15 cm thick wood panels – which modifies the configuration of the living space of about 6 square meters with minimal effort. In this way, the Nomadic Office has a work corner, a smart wardrobe, a dining room and a sleeping area. The wooden table, with a thickness of 5 cm and a tilt of 90 degrees, can be taken advantage of, both for eating and for work. Once closed, you can access the large bed hidden behind a folding wall. Solar Panels

Working to maintain vehicle self-sufficiency from an energy point of view is very important. The Jmca operator equipped it with two 330W solar panels on the roof of the car and an 80-liter water tank for fresh water and sewage. The truck combines both an insulation and heating system: the internal structure is covered with a thin layer of cork, along with other flexible panels 45 mm thick made of wool, hemp, linen and cotton. At the same time, the oil heating system allows the owners to use the truck at any time of the year. At the moment, it is a prototype that has generated a lot of interest in the sector and will not be easily mass-produced. But it clearly has placed interesting bets on the concept of intelligent mobile work.
