Google to shut down ‘Orkut’

Google has declared that ‘Orkut’, the first ever social networking site, will not be available to use from September 30, 2014. Almost a decade ago, the internet users were introduced to social networking via ‘Orkut’.
Social networking sites has developed speedily grabbing users in their enchantment but, it was the ‘Orkut’ that caused a brisk change in our online life. According to a blog published on Orkut, as other social networking ventures of Google, such as YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off in last ten years. The growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut’s growth, prompting Google to shut it down. New accounts will not be created now however, the running Orkut user feel no impact until the site is completely closed down. Current user are advised to export their profile data, community posts and photos using Google Takeout before the closure date of website. To secure the data of user in the dark, Google has decided to safe an archive of all public communities, that will be available for restoring your data from September 30, 2014. The users who do not want their data available in that community archive, may remove Orkut permanently from their Google account.
