The revival of international cricket in Pakistan has again faced a severe setback as Zimbabwe refused to visit Pakistan for the upcoming tour of Pakistan. Zimbabwe cricket team has made the recent Safoora tragedy the excuse and announced to cancel its tour to Pakistan immediately.
Zimbabwe team was scheduled to arrive Pakistan on May 19 for two T20 and three one-day international matches.
It was another loss to Pakistan after Safoora tragedy because there had not been any international cricket in Pakistan since 2009 and Pakistani spectators were very much hopeful about the revival of cricket in Pakistan but unfortunately they have to wait for some more time.
It is to be noted here that each Zimbabwean player was supposed to receive 10 thousand dollars each and they agreed to visit Pakistan as the financial circumstances in Zimbabwe are very critical. Moreover, Coach Dav Whatmore also convinced the players about the security situation in Pakistan.
So, keeping in view the current security situation in Karachi and the advice of Sports Regularity Authority of Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe cricket team finally announced to cancel its tour of Pakistan.
Earlier, Chairman PCB, Sheharyar Khan was very much hopeful about the tour of Pakistan and said in a press conference that we are in touch with the Zimbabwean team and they would visit Pakistan putting aside the incident of Safoora tragedy. But all his hopes turned down just few hours later when the announcement by Zimbabwe team appeared.
