Pool B: South Africa beats UAE by 146 runs


WELLINGTON: South Africa claimed victory against Emirates Cricket Team by 150 runs at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand. Man of the Match, Ab de Villiers scored 99 runs.


UAE invites the Proteas to play first after winning the toss. South Africa set another higher target of 341 at the loss of six wickets in their last Pool match. Arabian bowlers easily got the Amla, De Cock and Rossouw below the mark of hundred.

As usual de Villiers produced another good performance in the match. However, in the 43rd over, Kamran Shehzad delivered the body blow when de Villiers sliced ball to short-third man to become third player after Adam Gilchrist and JP Duminy to be dismissed for 99 in World Cup. Luckily he named for another record of World Cup. By now he hit 20 sixes this World Cup, the most by any batsman in a single World Cup. Hayden hit 18 sixes during the 2007 World Cup. Prominent scorer from Proteas were AB de Villiers (99), Behardien (64) and Miller (49).


Muhammad Naveed bowled three Proteas players and one by each Shazad, Javed and Tauqir.

Emirates players also presented a nice batting. Although the whole team out at total of 195 but the team still made it difficult for South Africa to claim easy and simple victory. Most of their wickets dropped after the mark of hundred. Wicket keeper, Patil registered a half century, he scored 57 runs.

After completion of six matches South Africa have eight points and Net Run Rate of +1.707. They stand at number two position below the India. UAE, lacking of any point, have deficit Net Run Rate of -1.961.
