High target by SA, withered ZIM’s dreams


Hamilton: 3rd match of World Cup 2015 was played between South Africa and Zimbabwe. South Africa set 339/4 on the board, chasing this mammoth Zimbabwe got all out on 277 in 48.2 overs.


South Africa batting first was in trouble before the partnership between David Miller and Jean Paul Duminy, this was the record partnership for the fifth wicket of 256 runs. Both the batsman set not out centuries on the scoreboard, Miller (138 not out) and Duminy (115 not out). South Africa were 83-4 before their tremendous innings.

Zimbabwe side led by Elton Chigumbra also showed their intention to win, but later on chasing huge total, Zimbabwe after Taylor’s dimissal loosed complete grip of the match. Zimbabwe side played really well, proving their class Chamu Chibhabha scored (64) and Hamilton Masakadza with (80) runs was the most effective batsman from his side.


South African main peace bowlers Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel got failed to create trouble for the Zimbabwean batsmen. Steyn didn’t open the bowling attack and cost 38 without any wicket for his first five overs, he finished with 1-64 from nine overs.

Leg spinner Imran Tahir was the successful bowler from South African side he finished with 3-36 from 10 overs.

Before, in the South African batting Miller moved from 50 to 100 in 28 balls and scored 30 runs from the 48th over, he finished with 138 from 92 balls and hit nine sixes. He was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.
