Cricket has made its way back to Pakistan after a very long pause and the fans overwhelmingly welcome Zimbabwe in the first Twenty20 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Pakistani is going to host international cricket match after a 6 year-long pause which was due to terror attacks on Sri Lankan bus in 2009. Fans of cricket in Pakistan are celebrating the ‘restart’ across the country. Ceremony unveiled the T20 trophy on Thursday where Pakistani skipper Shahid Khan Afridi and Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura were present posing with it.
Shahid Khan Afridi stated that they had been waiting for this moment for six years and now here it was. He credited Shahryar Khan and the team for this brilliant revival of international cricket in Pakistan. He also thanked the Zimbabwe government and the cricket team and hoped all the best for their trip here.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura reaffirmed a good cricket and a wish to carry the momentum from World Cup even T20 is a different format. Also, he said that they feel at home in Pakistan.
