Younis Khan, the modern day legendary batsman of Pakistan couldn’t do much for his side in first three Tests of crucial England series, at the same time he was being severely criticized. Though the management trusted Khan and even included him for the final and fourth Test.
Finally, after failing in first three Tests of this crucial series, Younis Khan recoiled back with the record-thrashing knock of 218 runs. This brilliant knock put Pakistan on driving seat and led Pakistan to grab an easy win on their Independence Day
The best part came in as Younis dedicated his double to to the Pakistani great Hanif Mohammad, who lost his life after prolonged illness.
On Third Day stumps, while talking to media after his double ton he urged Pakistani fans to arrive to the stadiums along with flags to create glory on Independence Day. “If we can win this tomorrow 14th August it would be very special for us all as it’s our independence day. There’s a lot of talk about me retiring but I don’t know when it is yet. I’ve always worked hard and kept myself fit. I urge all our supporters/ fans to come out tomorrow with the flags and support us to the last ball.” said Younis Khan.
Now after winning the 4th Test and leveling the series, Khan who scored double ton told what really worked behind his such superb bounce back.
“It was hard work for me, but I received a call before the game from Azharuddin and he talked about my batting.” said Younis Khan
“He told me to stay at the crease and trust other people, and it worked out for me.” he added.
On the other hand, former Indian skipper, Azharuddin said: “It pained me to watch Younis Khan bat the way he had been so I decided to speak to him before the final Test.”
