Pakistan legendary Wasim Akram is ready to supervise a fast-bowling camp in Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and LG to groom the future pace tigers the national team.
The camp is scheduled to be held at the National Stadium Karachi from August 1-12, and it would be the second time when ‘king of swing’ will train the pacers in two years’ time. Previously, he conducted a similar camp in Karachi in 2013 and most of the national fast-bowlers benefitted greatly from his advices.
According to Akram, there is no shortage of fast-bowling talent in Pakistan and all they need is the right coaching. “I’m coming to groom the future pacers of your country and to share what fast-bowling is all about. Nature has endowed Pakistani fast-bowlers with just right amount of speed for this particular brand of bowling and I’ll try to enhance their capabilities,” added the former captain of Pakistan national side.
The said campaign is set to officially commence from July 23 following a series of trials taking place in five cities. The bowlers selected during these trials will head to Karachi to join first-class bowlers for a 12-day camp with Wasim.
The campaign is going to be run in two phases. In phase one, there will be a series of trials open to all bowlers who will be evaluated by PCP-appointed coaches in Peshawar on July 23, Mirpur July 27, Multan 29, Sukkur July 30, and Quetta July 30 & 31.
In the second phase, training sessions will be held in two session in a day at the National Stadium Karachi and the National Cricket Academy in Karachi. The selected bowlers from the first phase will also be awarded with prize money.
