LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced the 15-member squad, which includes veteran Muhammad Sami, former captain Shoaib Malik, and Umar Akmal, for upcoming two Twenty20 Internationals against Zimbabwe.
The right-armed fast bowler, 34-years-old Muhammad Sami has been out of the national side since he played the last of his five T20s against Sri Lanka in June 2012. On the other hand, all-rounder Shoaib Malik and middle order hard-hitter Umar Akmal have also been given opportunity to prove their skills in the shortest form of cricket.
Further, two unfamiliar players in the shortest format – Imad Wasim and Nauman Anwar – were rewarded for their impressive performance in recent domestic matches. While, world-class spinner Saeed Ajmal and left-arm fast bowler Sohail Tanvir couldn’t get themselves chosen for this series.
So, the final squad for T20 against Zimbabwe will comprise Shahid Afridi (Captain), Ahmed Shehzad, Muhammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed, Hammad Azam, Wahab Riaz, Bilawal Bhatti, Nauman Anwar, Anwar Ali, Muhammad Rizwan, Imad Wasim, Mukhtar Ahmed and Muhammad Sami.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwean team is scheduled to play two T20 and three One-Day Internationals at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The two T20 are will be played on May 22 and 24.
Moreover, Zimbabwe cricket team became the first full-member ICC team that paying an official visit to Pakistan in last six years. It landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore earlier today amid high security arrangements.
