COLOMBO: Due to the stunning performances of Umar Akmal in batting and Sohail Tanvir in bowling, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka very easily in the first Twenty 20 International match in Colombo on Thursday night.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat and piled up a score of 175 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 over. Umar Akmal scored 46 runs of 26 balls whereas Sohail Tanveer grabbed 3 wickets helping their team to win the first day-night T20 match at Premadasa Stadium.
Sri Lanka was only able to score just 146 runs at the loss of 7 wickets till the end of 20 over. Akmal hit three boundaries and three sixes during fourth wicket partnership of 81 runs from just 45 balls with Shoaib Malik. Ahmed Shahzad was the other notable player who scored 46 of 38 balls.
Sohail Tanveer finished with three for 29 and Anwar Ali took two for 27 to tie down the sri Lankan batsmen.
Pakistan will play the second match on Saturday at the same stadium and will try to take away the third trophy as well with it after clinched the Tests 2-1 and the ODI series 3-2.
