Cricket – the most popular sport in Pakistan – is coming back after six years of long time. Two international teams, Zimbabwe and Pakistan will show their zeal at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
To make this remarkable night even more colorful, Pakistan top singers will also join the ground. First there are Ali Zafar and Shehzad Roy – Pakistani music composers, singers and song writers – who will entertain the audience at the opening ceremony of the five matches series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Ali Zafar will perform on his song Udainge and Masti.
Then there will be Annie Khalid – English-Pakistani musician and model – to perform on 24th May, the second T20 match of the series. At last, Shehzad Roy – another Pakistani pop singer -will take the stage at the closing ceremony.
Shehzad too shared his views, “Cricket is a great unifier in this country. It brings together Pakistanis from all socioeconomic classes, religions and ethnicities. This match marks the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and comes at a time when Pakistanis need to unite and become one entity.”
Finally cricket seems to have returned to Pakistan and it is a matter of proud for akistani players that they are going to play with an international cricket team in their home ground. PCB Chairman Shehryar Khan is committed for the revival of cricket in Pakistan. Khan has already said that after successful completion of Zimbabwe tour, we will invite more teams to come Pakistan.
PCB has sent invitation to cricket officials of Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh to come and join the event of today. The invitation has been also sent to President of Pakistan Mamnnon Hussain, Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and Pak Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
