Pak-Ban Test Series Second day: Hafeez’s century put Pakistan to 227/1


At the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh at Khulna, Pakistan began its inning after Bangladesh had to conclude their first inning at 332. Muhammad Hafeez and debutant Sami Aslam opened the inning for Pakistan.

Both these openers provided a nice start and let Bangladeshi bowlers to strike in the 12th over when there was total 50 runs. The first to depart from the Pakistani side was the debutant Sami Aslam who got caught after managing 20 runs.


After losing his first partner, Muhammad Hafeez was joined by right-handed Azhar Ali. Both these batsmen played positive cricket with mutual understanding. Both these players built a good partnership of 177* and it is still continued as both remained not out at the stumps of day two. At the end of the second day, Hafeez was on 137 not out while Azhar was on 65 not out.

Earlier, Bangladesh had ended their first inning score 332 all out. After resuming their first inning from previous night score 236/4, they failed to add decent score into their total as not a single batsmen from their side could survive before Pakistani bowlers who continuously attacked them. From Pakistani bowling side Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah ended with 3 wickets each while Zulfiqar Babar and Muhammad Hafeez got 2 wickets each.
