MIRPUR: Pakistan declares its second inning at 195/6 to set a massive 550 target for Bangladesh on the third day of the second Test at Shere Bangla Stadium, Mirpur.
At the stumps of the third day of the second Test, Bangladesh was at 63/1 . So, it needs 487 more runs with 9 wickets in hand along with 2 days to grab the first Test victory over Pakistan.
Earlier, Bangladesh had resumed its first inning from previous night’s 107/5 on the third day and got out in the 48th over when there was mere 203 on the score board in response to Pakistan’s first inning 557. So, the hosts were suffering from Follow-On; however, instead of putting them to bat again, the Pakistani captain decided to bat again.
Wahab Riaz, Yahir Shah took 3 wickets each, while Junaid Khan made 2 Bangladeshi batsmen leave for pavilion.
At the start of Pakistan’s second inning, both openers faced early departure after contributing little to the total score. However, the middle order of the Pakistani side, as usual, played much better and added reasonable runs to on the board. The skipper remained the top scorer this time with aggressive 82 while veteran Younis Khan could score 39.
From Bangladeshi bowling, Muhammad Shahid remained the successful bowler with 2 wickets, while Taijul Islam, Soumya Sarkar, Shuvagata Hom, and Mahmudullah could get 1 wicket each.
