Lankans comes back in the series after victory in 2nd ODI against Pakistan

PALLEKELE: Sri Lanka jumped back into the series against Pakistan after winning the second one-day international and leveled the series 1-1 due to Dinesh Chandimal who scored unbeaten 48 in the match.

Pakistan batted first and gave a target of 288 runs to win after scoring 287-8 in 50 over. In reply Sri Lanka achieved the target in 48.5 over with two wickets remaining.

Pakistan won the first match in Dambulla by six wickets to take the lead in the series 1-0.

Pakistan is currently at ninth position in the latest ODI ranking and it needs a series win against Sri Lanka to play in the Champions Trophy in 2017 in England.

Sri Lanka is confirmed in the Champions Trophy as it stays at fifth position in ODI ranking.

Opener Kusal Perera gave Sri Lanka a brilliant start with a rocking 68 of just 25 deliveries that included two sixes and 13 fours.

Kusal made a feat of 50 runs in just 17 balls equaling his countrymen cricket legend batsman, Sanath Jayasuriya’s record who also scored 50 runs in just 17 balls.

Kusal was just one ball short to equal the world record of the fastest fifty in ODI that was made by AB de Villiers of South Africa who had scored 50 runs in just 16 balls.
