Senior Pakistani cricketers, the star batsmen Younis Khan and Test team captain Misah ul Haq have reportedly shown their disagreement at not being included in the ‘Icons’ list under the list of players’ categories for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Both the veteran and respected cricketers of the country have not been included in the list of ‘Icons’ by the PSL governing body, which honoured five players in the list that are Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen and Shane Watson.
“They are not happy and indications are that they will convey to the board that if they are not given leadership positions in the PSL franchise teams they might skip it,” a source told the media.
“Pietersen is someone who has not been given this status in any other cricket league and is someone who has been sidelined by England for more than a year now,” added the source.
The sources further added: “On the other hand, Watson has retired from Australian team duty in comparison both Younis and Misbah remain active players at the Test level.”
On the other hand, the veteran batsman, who has recently surpassed the highest run scorer of Pakistani batsmen in Test, has expressed his wish to play a leading role in any of the five PSL teams.
“I would like to have a leadership position in the PSL, like say, being captain or mentor besides being a player,” said Younis.
