CHITTAGONG: The news from Zahur Ahmed Chowdary Stadium is yet another big one for Bangladeshi camp, easily defeated South Africa by 9 wickets and wins the ODI series 2-1.
Bangladesh rising as a ‘super power’ in International cricket has defeated two World class teams just around in a month. It will never be wrong to call it a ‘big blow’ for Bangladeshi camp.
After defeating India 2-1 in ODI series, winning series against South Africa, never seemed much easier as Bangalis made it. Applause and felicitations for Bangladesh.
South Africa winning the toss decided to bat first but as the previous game South Africa were restricted on a very low total and this seems to be an easy task for the batting line, having in form player like Soumya Sarkar. Youngster did really well in the batting department, giving no chance to Protease to recoil back in the game.
South Africa batting first never look comfortable in any department, just the positive thing they got from ODI series is youngster Rabada’s debut. SA loosing their opener Quinton de Kock early on in 3rd over, situation becomes worst for SA as they became 50-4 at one time. Duminy and Miller doing well for Africa stood them to the total of 168 for 9 after 40 overs.(According to the D/L method match was limited up to 40 overs per side).
Rubel Hossain and Mastifuzr Rahman picked up 2 wickets each. Mortaza and Mahmudullah also doing well manages 1 wicket each. Shakib Al Hasan, one of the World’s best all rounder devastating SA side, picked up 3 wickets.
Bangladeshi opener becoming even strong as ‘China Wall’ tackled all the attacks by the Protease and led their side for a comfortable win. Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal scored 90 and 61* respectively.
Soumya Sarkar got out just when 15 runs for winning were left on the board, he was dismissed by Imran Tahir.
Soumya Sarkar was awarded Man of the Match and Man of the series.
