It was (Eng2-1Pak) for the Pakistan against England, and two of the most experienced batsmen, Mohammad Hafeez and Younis Khan in the side were failing badly.
The management decided to bench one of them, whereas the most experienced out of them, Younis Khan was given another chance.
Though this decision was also criticized, but Pakistani’s middle order batsman changed the things rapidly and with his double-ton led his side for a victory on their Independence Day to create a glory, which even left his strongest deniers accepting him.
38-years-old Khan, who have earned a lot for his side at the presentation revealed what really brought back him in the game.
“It was hard work for me, but I received a call before the game from Azharuddin and he talked about my batting.” said Younis Khan
“He told me to stay at the crease and trust other people, and it worked out for me.” he added.
Now former Indian cricketer talking to Geo News told what he really said to Younis Khan ahead of the Pak vs Eng 4th Test, “Playing outside the crease in England is a difficult proposition because of the swing. So I called to tell him to stand in the crease which gave him gaps and he played fluently,”
“It was great of Younis to change his technique as per my instructions,” said Azharuddin who is still one of the most successful Indian captain as per records
“I did not like when people talked about Younis in an adverse manner. He has done so much for Pakistan and has a lot of runs to his name,” said the 52-year-old.
