Azhar Ali named Captain and Sarfraz Ahamd his Deputy in ODI for Pakistan

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to nominate  middle order batsman Azhar Ali as the Captain of Pakistan ODI team after the retirement of Misbah ul Haq, Wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed will be the vice-captain.

“Azhar Ali will be the new one-day captain while Sarfaraz will be his understudy, ” a senior PCB said, The Express Tribune reported.

“The board feels Azhar Ali is the right man to take the team forward while in the meantime Sarfaraz will be groomed as well, the official added, according to news report.

Azhar played his last ODI match against India at Kolakata almost two years ago. With average of 41.09, he played 14 one-days for green-shirts.
