ISLAMABAD: Former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz questions Afridi’s place in T20 side, following his individual performance. Sarfraz Nawaz said that Afridi would struggle to get the place in T20 side if he wasn’t announced as skipper for 2016 World T20.
Outspoken Sarfraz Nawaz also lambasted PCB in some way, saying: “PCB should not go on ifs and buts hoping that Afridi would perform some day,” 66-year old former fast-bowler quite openly expressed his views regarding Afridi.
He also commented that player like Afridi, who performed once in a blue moon, was a liability for the team.
2016 ICC World Twenty20 is going to begin next year from 11 March to 3 April in India. It seems that Afridi’s total attention is towards winning the title and is quiet busy in National Cricket Academy, preparing for the big event.
In recent, Pakistan crushed Zimbabwean side 2-0 in T20’s, although Afridi’s performance was below par against the weaker competitors. Afridi was just able to score two runs in each match of a 2 match series and consecutively bowled seven overs in both the encounters, conceded 49 runs and went wicket-less.
On the other hand, Sarfraz Nawaz backed Younis Khan and told that he deserves the place in ODI squad as players like him can stay on the wicket for 50 overs, although our other players can’t.
