Bangladesh beat the debuted Afghanistan


CANBERRA: Bangladesh has easily beat the debuted Afghanistan in  7th Match, Pool A of WC 2015 by a heavy margin of 105 scores. Man of the Match, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 63 runs.


Bangladesh set the target of 268 in 50 overs by playing first at Manuka Oval Cricket Ground, Canberra, Australia. Afghan bowlers gave tough time to Bangladeshi batsmen up to 119 when four batsmen of Bangladesh were returned back to pavilion. Partnership of 114 by Shakib Al Hassan and Mushfiqur Rahim for the 5th wicket propel Bangladesh to 267. Both scored 63 and 71 respectively.

Hamid Hassan, Shappor Zadran, Aftab Alam, and Mirwais Ashraf each collected 2 wickets and 1 by Mohammad Nabi.

Afghanistan reeled in 268 chase and lost its first three wickets in first three overs. Shenwari and Mohammad Nabi adhere on the crease but failed in gaining victory for the team. Both scored 42 and 44 respectively.

Mortaza got 3 wickets, 2 by Shakib Al Hasan and one each by Hossain, Taskin and Mahmudullah.


It was the 2nd head to head ODI match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. First encounter was in Asia Cup 2014 and Afghanistan won that encounter by 32 runs but today Afghanistan is encountered by Bangladesh in WC 2015 in its WC debut match.

After this victory, Bangladesh is at number 3 in Pool A having 2 points and Net Run Rate of +1.588.
