Australian Open 2016: Aisam ul Haq to face Sania Mirza in Mixed Doubles Round 2


SPORT DESK: Alone face of Pakistan Tennis in International arena Aisam-ul-Haq in Mixed Doubles of Australian Open 2016 to face Sania Mirza in Round 2.


Paired up with Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova, stared the campaign for the title of mixed doubles with straight sets win. Duo beat Australian pair Daria Gavrilova and Luke Sville by 6-4 and 7-6.

Whereas, Sania Mirza with her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig claimed the Round 1 match for the mixed doubles category against Australian pair Ajla Tomljanovic and Nick Kyrgios by 7-5 and 6-1.

35-year-old Pakistan tenis star is making sixth consecutive appearance in Australian open after playing for the first time in 2011, his best performance in mixed doubles is 3rd Round.

Aismul-Haq hit the headlines in 2010 US open, in which he lost men doubles final but won the hearts of many , said in post-match ceremony, ‘”I just wanna say something on the behalf of every Pakistanis, Every time I come here, I feel there is wrong precipitation about Pakistan being a terrorist country,We are very friendly (Period), loving and caring people.And we want peace in the world as much as you guys want .”
