WEB DESK: Singer Adnan Sami has been granted Indian citizenship with effect from January 1, 2016, Indian media reported.
Adnan Sami had applied for Indian Citizen on May 26, 2015 on humanitarian grounds.

43-year-old-singer has been living in the India since March 13, 2001. He extended his visa over the course of time.
According to Indian media, his Pakistani passport issued on May 27,2010 expired on May 26,2015. After that Adnan Sami has applied for Indian Citizenship on humanitarian grounds.
Adnan Sami’s two break through songs on Indian market was from the ablum, ‘Kabhi to Nazar Milao’ and ‘Hum ko bhi lift karwade’.
According to his official Facebook page, Adnan has won many international awards, including the Nigar Award, the Bolan Academy Award, and the Graduate Award. He was given a special award by UNICEF for the song he wrote for famine-hit Ethiopia as a teenager and a United Nations Peace Medal for a song he wrote and performed for Africa.
