Indian Government is planning to take back the Padma Shri award from the Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan due to Mumbai restaurant brawl.
While Mumbai court is about to convict the veteran actor for his assaults and fight in a restaurant in Mumbai, the Indian Government is examining the demands to take back the Padma Shri award from the actor.
RTI activist S C Agrawal had lodged a complaint with the Union Home Ministry on March 14 this year, in which he asked the government to take back the Padma Shri award from Saif Ali Khan conferred him in 2010 on the basis of charges against him for alleged fight in a restaurant in Mumbai.
In reply to another fresh application of RTI enquiring about the status of his complaint, the Home Ministry said to Agrawal that “the matter is under examination”. 43 years old Bollywood actor was awarded Padma Shri in 2010 for his contributions in the field of art.
However, the recent charges against khan and two of his friends – Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi – under section 325 (assult) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code may lead him to this disgrace.
