Poland vs Tunisia to reach the quarter-finals, the United States faces Turkey – OA Sport

The second day dedicated to the Round of 16 of the 2022 Men’s Volleyball World Championships. Two matches are scheduled today in the programme, both at the Gliwice Arena in Gliwice, Poland, a large facility near Katowice, another Polish city that has hosted part of the group stage and which will host the event’s final business.

The first two teams on the field today will be the United States and Turkey. The Stars and Stripes National Team, despite their highly criticized eighth place “common standings” for the teams that qualified for the Round of 16, found a somewhat favorable cross and will start as clear candidates.

A strong tactical structure and a great balance between high-ball attackers are the great strengths of the US team which, after convincing victories over Mexico and Bulgaria, was stopped only by the hosts of Poland. Best managed by designer Christenson, Anderson, Russell and DeFalco will be the weapons with which they will have to try to defend Addis Lagomdziga and his comrades.

Poland will be on stage in the second match today. The two world champions will battle with the humble Tunisian team to find a place in the quarter-finals. With the technical precision of the entirety of Semenyuk and the usual excess physique of Bartosz Cork, the Poles would not be able to meet the resistance of the Africans, who would rely above all on the attacks of the opponent Hamza Naga.

The two winners of today’s matches will find themselves in the quarter-finals to be held again in Glivice on Thursday 8 September. So it looks likely to be a rematch between Poland and the United States, which promises a massive show as it did in both the group and in the semi-finals of the last VNL Championship.
