PESHAWAR: During the Zarb-i-Azb military operation, at least 232 suspected militants were killed while 20 hideouts have been devastated in North Waziristan.
Eight security personnel have been killed so far, while seven others were wounded during the operation. Two major terrorist communication centers located on the hills and a bomb-making factory were destroyed. Military sources said that the attempts of the militants to flee the operation have been thwarted. It is anticipated that the operation will see a greater on-ground action in the few days. The Army launched its long-awaited operation ‘Zarb-i-Azb’ in the tribal region a week after an attack on the airport in Karachi, deploying troops, tanks and jets to the area in the crackdown on the Taliban and other militants.
On The other hand, the Taliban leader Hafiz Gul Gahadur announce on Thursday to launch a ‘defensive war’ from Friday.
