ISLAMABAD: Former chairperson of Prime Minister’s Youth Development Programme (PMYDP), Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced that the federal government will soon launch one-year training and development programme for the educated youth of the country to bring them in the net of national system.
Addressing to the ceremony ‘Certificates Awarding of Youth Development Programme’, Maryam Nawaz said that under this scheme about 50,000 internships will be provided to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She was the chief guest at the event.
The Certificates Awarding ceremony was held for the top position holders students of the programme who were given certificates by Maryam Nawaz, Federal Minister for Education and Training Balighu-ur-Rehman and current Chairperson for PMYDP Leila Khan. The ceremony was organised by Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, and National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Maryam Nawaz said, “soon the students of religious seminaries meeting HEC eligibility criteria will also be included in the scheme.” Pointing towards election campaign 2013, she said that we had made a promise to educate youth and will bring steps for their welfare. The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif fulfilled his promise by launching a number of schemes for the youth such as: Youth Laptop Programme; Youth Business Loan Scheme; Interest Free Loans Scheme; Skill Development Programme; Fee Reimbursement Scheme; and Youth Training Programme.
