US envoy Feldman discussed security in region, lauded COES for his efforts


ISLAMABAD: United States Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Dan Feldman on Saturday extolled chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif over his efforts in bringing together all parties to stage peace talks between the Afghan government and the Afghan Taliban.


Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa tweeted.

The American envoy visited Army House to meet General Raheel Sharif and discussed Afghanistan as well as security and stability in the region. Feldam anticipated will all the sincerity that the process would resume again so to bring prolonged peace in the region.



Previously, Pakistan said last month that it is ready to facilitate talks between the Afghan government and Afghan Taliban.


“Pakistan is ready to play any possible role in the reopening of dialogue between Afghan Taliban and the Afghan government where ever it is being planned,” said the Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz during the first ever meeting of the senate foreign affairs committee at parliament house.


Meanwhile, Afghanistan repented the annulment of the talks and hoped that the meeting would be planned to be held soon.

The meeting between Taliban and Afghan government representatives in the presence of Pakistani, Chinese and Americans officials was to be held in Pakistan on Friday.
